For its first collection, Éva Ventai, a French brand of high-end fans, has highlighted “raffia,” a natural plant fiber extracted from the Raphia palm, native to Madagascar. Undoubtedly contemporary, the raffia palm leaf fans from Éva VENTAÏ reinterpret a historical shape much appreciated by Marie Antoinette, Queen of France, using an unusual and innovative material in the world of fans.
To create these treasures of beauty handcrafted in Provence at our workshop, one of the last remaining workshops in France and Europe, the Éva Ventai house collaborated with a cooperative of raffia weaver women in Madagascar to develop materials with a unique design. The raffia fibers are hand-dyed using natural dyes. After a long process of natural air drying, the fibers are woven using the artistic techniques of the Éva Ventai house, inspired by the legendary Scottish style: tweed. This iconic and timeless pattern remains in vogue and has been widely adopted, particularly by the prestigious French fashion house with the intertwined double C.
