For its first collection, Éva Ventai, a French brand of high-end fans, showcases raffia , a natural plant fiber extracted from the Raphia palm, native to Madagascar. Decidedly contemporary, Éva Ventai's raffia leaf fans reinterpret a historical form, favored by Marie Antoinette, Queen of France, using an original and innovative material in the world of fans.
To create these treasures of beauty, handcrafted in Provence in our workshop – one of the last still operating in France and Europe – the Éva Ventai fashion house collaborated with a cooperative of Malagasy weavers to develop uniquely designed materials. The raffia fibers are hand-dyed with natural dyes. After a long air-drying process, they are woven using Éva Ventai's artistic techniques, inspired by the legendary Scottish style: tweed. This iconic and timeless pattern remains a must-have, notably adopted by the prestigious French fashion house with the interlocking Cs.
